Your Signal + Noise guides always have something to say

By S+N FoundersMarch 13, 20262 min read

Hello there,

Welcome to Signal and Noise PHX. As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention,” and right now, it feels very necessary to start this site. VERY necessary. , I’m Tom Reardon. I’m a Phoenix native and have been playing music in town since the end of the 1980s. I’m old. I’ve also been writing about music and culture for the Phoenix New Times since 2013. I’ve been around the musical block in multiple ways, driving different types of vehicles.

I believe Phoenix has a great music and art scene. There are a plethora of talented people, and getting to help tell their stories - their true stories - is a privilege and a passion for me.

Over the coming months, my fellow editor, Amy Young, and I have a lot of work to do. We hope some of you will help us do it. If you are an artist of any type, send us information about what you are doing. Tell us about your band and where we can see and hear you. If you are a promoter or a club, reach out and give us a heads-up about what you have going on.

For our fellow writers out there, get involved. We can’t do this on our own. Our goal is to support Signal and Noise PHX through our paid Substack subscriptions and advertising. We would love to talk with you about both opportunities.

Beyond that, I promise to tell the truth. There will be no clickbait shit, for example, and everything we put on this site will be done with the intention of making this town better for everyone. Signal and Noise PHX might be critical at times and occasionally sarcastic; if honesty is not your bag, you might not like what we have to say, but it will be real.

On a personal note, I’ve got musical stories to tell. We will look at Phoenix’s past sometimes and also have an eye toward the future. I look forward to it all.

What story shall we tell about you?
