Five on Friday: The Devo edition

As we head into a couple of huge Devo shows this week, it seems only fitting to go a little deeper into why I love the band.

Devo has been a part of my life for so long that it is hard to say exactly when I became aware of them. Was it watching Fridays and seeing the band play live or hearing “Whip It” on the radio? I don’t know. One of my first memories of Devo is watching the “Booji Boy” videos as a really young dude and wondering, “What the heck was that?” I guess I was lucky that my cousin, Ben, had a really cool uncle in New York who was sending cool stuff back to Phoenix as the ‘70s came to a close.
