News flash: PHX Zine Fest 2026 kicks off tonight

By Amy Young

You can start celebrating independent publishing, creativity, and community from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, September 25, when the event kicks into gear at Rocket Space Gallery at Danelle Plaza, 37 W. Southern Ave., in Tempe. Saturday and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free. The event is not-for-profit, but your donations help it happen each year.

Charissa Lucille, who facilitates the all-volunteer-run Wasted Ink Zine Distro, a zine hub, print shop, zine library, and much more, stopped for a couple of minutes while preparing for this weekend to share her thoughts on this year’s event.

"The PHX Zine Fest team and I are excited to put on the 10th year at Rocket Space Gallery in Tempe! We're celebrating a decade worth of zine community and creative friends at this year's fest with an art show, a community zine station, and a kickoff dance party. We truly couldn't be more thankful and proud of PHX Zine Fest," she tells us.

The types of zines you’ll find at this happening are too many to mention, but they’re cool, creative, artsy, powerful, and provocative, and exemplify the magic and spirit of DIY.
